me and the kids

Hello and welcome to my little corner of the internet. My name is Alana, I’m married to my best friend Keith and together we have two children; M who is 8 and L who is 3. I’m a blogger, mother, serial procrastinator and zookeeper to dogs Cassie and Lumpy (long story), cats Bill and Ted (coolest names ever, sorry Lumpy) and far too many fish to count or name.

After 8 years as a stay at home mum I found I was in need of a creative outlet to start exercising those little brain cells again and in the summer of 2016 Burnished Chaos was born.

What does Burnished chaos mean?

I’ve been asked this question a number of times so I though it deserved it’s own section. At it’s most basic it’s a description of my life. Like many of you, my life is often a chaotic mess of flitting between different roles and juggling more than I can manage, but despite the mayhem I love it and my crazy little family. It’s about looking past the chaos and the mess and seeing the beauty in it.

What can you expect?

My ultimate goal is to help other mothers who are maybe feeling a little lost in their own chaos to find the beauty in the mayhem for a happier, more fulfilled life. So, lots of posts about family life; the ups, the downs (mainly the ups, I like to keep things positive), the issues we all face as parents, and any tips and tricks I discover that could help us all.

I have a few regular series’ which you can see below, and I also post about days out with the kids (maybe even some without, but shh, don’t tell them) as well as reviews and anything else that I think you may be interested in.

Words To Live By: This is popular series where I talk about how we are using different quotes/words of wisdom to help inspire us in the hope they can inspire you too.

#FamilyFun: I help co-host this linky every Monday with Karen from Two Tiny Hands and  Sarah from Tammy Mum. If you’re a fellow blogger it’s a great place to link up two of your best posts. If you’re a reader it’s a great place to find some great new posts from different bloggers.

#funseekingkids: I co-run an Instagram community with Susie from This Is Me Now and each Thursday we do a round-up of our favourite pictures that have been linked up. This is open to everyone with an Instagram account and you can find out more here: #funseekingkids: An Instagram Community.

Happy Days: It can be so easy at the end of a tiring week to focus on all the negative aspects but if you really look back with a focus on finding the moments that made you happy, no matter how big or small, it can make a real difference to how you are feeling and the way you perceive your week. Every Saturday I post about the moments that have made me happy during the previous 7 days and would love you to join me and let me know your happy moments in the comments so we can all celebrate those small moments together.

‘Tales From The Other Side Of …’: This is a guest posting series where you can share any experiences you have been through and come out the other side of. Or simply read what others have experienced to pick up tips and just realise that you are not alone.
