It may still be summer officially, but the weather lately has taken a decidedly different turn. L has lived in trainers and sandals for the past few months but the increasingly wet weather has been calling for wellies. As great as wellies are for muddy walks and jumping in puddles, they’re not exactly appropriate for every occasion.

I’d had a look around various shoes shops but all you seemed to be able to get for girls were the pretty shoes that were quite open on the top of the foot, not the best for the weather. Perhaps now the back to school season is coming to an end more of them will start stocking boots but in the meantime I needed another solution.

Autumn is fast approaching and the change in weather calls for a change in footwear, Find out what we thought of the selection at Jake Shoes

When Jake Shoes offered me something from their site in exchange for an honest review I took a quick look and was blown away by the choice. They have a huge selection of footwear for the whole family but I was particularly impressed with the selection of boots available for girls. I shortlisted a few of my favourites and then let L pick.

Being a girl after my own heart she chose the Ugg Harwell Biker Boots. I’ve had a similar pair since I was pregnant with her and I pretty much live in them. That being said I am totally in love with the Lelli Kelly ones at the start and they’re in the sale at the minute too, if only kids didn’t grow out of shoes so fast!

Although the Uggs above look more like adults boots, when they arrived I have to say they are the cutest little boots I have ever seen and the inside is super soft.

When L spotted them she was over the moon and kept saying ‘Thank you, I love them’ over and over. She’s never worn boots before, other than wellies, so she’s a bit stompy in them at the minute but she’s getting the hang of them. The most important thing, from L’s point of view, is that they are great for jumping and dancing in. It’s how she tests out all her footwear.

Overall I’m really impressed with Jake Shoes. There is so much more choice than you would get in a shop and you could always order several pairs to try and then return the ones you didn’t want. Next working day delivery is free for orders over £40 but you do have to pay £3.50 for returns (unless it’s an exchange, in which case it’s free). That being said, by the time you have driven somewhere and paid for parking it’s still a cheaper option to order online and save yourself the hassle.

*Disclaimer – I was sent these boots free of charge in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own in accordance with my disclosure policy.

  1. I love the boots – I have a pair like that as well and nothing is better for the wet, cold British autumn/winter! #ablogginggoodtime

  2. Jakes Shoes are a fab company – I love the stuff they have. We opted for boots rather than shoes last winter for the first time and they were so much better. We’re on the lookout for some new ones for this winter and I’ve already had a good browse of the Jake Shoes collection 🙂 Fab. #ablogginggoodtime

  3. Uggs! What a great idea. I’ve been trying to work out what to get my little one as the weather has suddenly dipped. Not heard of Jakes before, but the speedy service sounds fab. #dreamteam
