Each week we change the words/quote/saying that we are displaying on the noticeboard in our kitchen; these are the words we try to live by individually and as a family that week. Some weeks may focus on lifting our mood, others may be about motivation or attitude to life; something that speaks to us on some level and that we can directly apply to our lives. Changing the words each week stops them from becoming just another thing you walk past without really seeing, it keeps things fresh and stops them losing their power. This series is where I share those words with you in the hope they may help you and your family too. If you a new to the series and want to learn more, you can read the first post here, or check out the Words To Live By tab in the top menu.

This week’s words are once again inspired my 7yr old son:
Learning something new is good for the soul and keeps you young. Find out more over on the blog.

Last Thursday M came home from school all excited because he had been able to tell the teacher something she didn’t know. They were talking about space and he asked her if she knew that the moon is moving further and further away from us every day, and she didn’t (neither did I).

At Christmas he got a book full of amazing facts and this was one of the things he had remembered from flicking through it. Knowing something the teacher didn’t got him really fired up and he spent Friday morning before school looking through the book and then took it in to school with him to show his teacher and his friends.

Learning something new is good for the soul and keeps you young. Find out more over on the blog.

Everyone has heard the old adage of “you learn something new every day”, but seeing how excited M was reminded me how exhilarating it can be, as well as great for your mental health, when you learn something new. I think that is one of the main reasons I have become so passionate about my blog; I am learning something new all the time.

I wrote a post last month about all the things I have learnt since starting this blog six months ago, looking at it now I realise it doesn’t even touch the surface and I have in fact learnt so much more.

Learning something new is good for the soul and keeps you young. Find out more over on the blog.

I have mentioned a few times that blogging has helped me find ‘me’ again. Somewhere along the line I had become a little disheartened and didn’t really know who I was or what my purpose was in life. Don’t get me wrong, I love being a wife and mother and these roles are more important to me than anything else in the world, but I still felt like I was disappearing somehow.

Learning something new is good for the soul and keeps you young. Find out more over on the blog.

When I crazily decided to set up a blog I didn’t have a clue how to get started, so I went online and did my research, making endless notes and then bit the bullet and did it. Every single day since then has been a learning curve, from working out all the wordpress settings, to writing and editing, creating graphics, setting up numerous profiles and social media accounts, to promotion and joining linkies. And every time I learn something new I feel excited. Every time I pull something off I feel a sense of accomplishment. I feel alive.

Learning something new is good for the soul and keeps you young. Find out more over on the blog.

I’m currently taking part in Aby’s Blog Growth Accelerator course (it’s a closed course but you can check out her other’s here), so lots of learning to be had there, but this week I am also going to learn how to create invoices and set up as self-employed, eek! Obviously my son learns new things every day at school, but he also wants to learn more facts from his book, so we’ll be reading through that each night too.

Learning something new is good for the soul and keeps you young. Find out more over on the blog.

What would you like to learn this week? Need some inspiration? Check out the workbook below 🙂

  2. Such a wonderful post with words that really struck. Learning is a wonderful thing and I’ve never shied away from wanting to learn. Blogging has taught me so much as has the world of social media – I love that through blogging I’ve been able to learn about a world of social media that I would have had no need to be part of it it hadn’t been for blogging and through that I’ve been offered a wonderful job managing someone else’s social media – learning takes you on a journey that you never know what opportunities it will bring and that is the crux of learning for me. Great post! #mg

  7. Learning is fantastic – I always feel like there’s so much I want to learn to do and there’s never going to be enough time to learn it all! One of my favourite things is watching children learn and enjoying it too 🙂 #MarvMondays

  8. I just love the quotes that you include in these posts! I can also empathise with how you were feeling when you started your blog-I started mine for similar reasons. It is fantastic to continually learn, isn’t it? I do feel like I learn something new about blogging every day! And after I had given up work, I kind of stopped learning-with my job, I was always doing courses, and learning all the time, but that all came to an end. I have a list of things I’d like to learn-a new language, and how to sew, being a couple of them. They are on the backburner at the moment, but I have started reading again recently (I hadn’t even read a book since my littlest was born 3 years ago…) so I feel like I’m getting back in the learning zone! Thanks for another thought provoking post!

I get frustrated when I can’t do something. but, then I figure it out, and feel amazing!
