Our lives are so busy at times that it can be all too easy to focus only on the negative and tiring things that have happened during the week. To counteract this, every week I join the #HappyDaysLinky run by the lovely Katy (whatkatysaid.com) and Sian (quitefranklyshesaid.com) to reflect on all the moments of the past week that have made me happy.
Here is this weeks list:
- On Sunday, my husband made three different types of curry (he’s becoming a bit of a master) and I made some roti and we all picked and helped ourselves. It was a really lovely meal and a very big hit with both kids.
- We stopped off at the park while walking the dogs on Monday and L had a bit of a run around in the mud and a play on the swing. The dogs found a stick the size of a tree to play with so they were happy too.
- We had a trip to IKEA on Tuesday to look at beds for L as it’s time she moved out of her cot. We didn’t find one for her but we did get quite a few ideas and she had us in hysterics trying out every single chair, sofa and bed in the store (thankfully being mid-week it was fairly quite or it might have been stressful rather than funny).
- L had her 2yr check with the Health Visitor on Wednesday. I wasn’t particularly looking forward to it as it’s too much form filling and bureaucracy for my liking but the woman was really lovely and absolutely great with L so it actually went well.
- L laying out a picnic for one on the living room floor with her toy picnic set on Thursday. She took so much time and care over it (unheard of for L, she’s usually more bull in a china shop), it was really sweet.
- M’s school had a Roald Dahl dress up day on Friday in aid of Stand up 2 Cancer. He wanted to be Mr Twit and I spent a lot of the week trying to make a beard. I can’t say making it was fun, but how happy he was with it on Friday morning definitely put a smile on my face. He’d drawn lots of pieces of spaghetti and worms and cereal to stick in it too and I think it worked out pretty well. I used this tutorial to make the beard but had to make a few tweaks to get it to stay up.
- My Words to Live By: A New Series post was in the top 3 most viewed posts on #Momsterslink run by Trista at domesticatedmomster.com and co-hosted the last couple of weeks by Heather at shank-you-very-much.com
- After a visit to the library this morning I was in the kitchen making lunch when I heard M reading one of the new books to L whilst both sitting on the bottom step, it kind of made my heart melt.
How about you? What has made you happy this week?
Mr Twit looks great! What a great idea to support Stand up for Cancer. I love a trip to IKEA and always buy everything in the shop that wasn’t actually on my list!! x #Happydays

Thank you. Me too, we went for a bed and came away with hooks shaped like dogs’ back ends (the tail is the hook) and laundry baskets, bit random but cheaper!
Hey. Hi. Great post. It’s so important to keep it positive. I’ll be checking out the Happy Days Linky. You might be interested in the #SmallVictoriesSundaylinkup too, I dunno. Big Roald Dahl fan here, so I love the beard. IKEA I love somewhat less. That place is intimidating! Anyway, good to get a glimpse of your world. Be well. #KCACOLS
Thank you, always like to hear about new linkys x
I love M’s costume he looks fab!! I love a good curry I have recently bought a slow cooker so gonna try and make a curry in it. Ikea is a favourite of mine, ideally without the kids!! Sounds like a perfect week lovely #haplpydays
Thank you. Good luck with the slow cooker curry, sounds yum x
That beard is amazing! I look forward to when my son starts dressing up at school! Thanks for linking up to #HappyDaysLinky x

You won’t be saying that when he does start, they seem to have some kind of dress up every term! M usually hates dressing up but he actually really wanted to do it this time round so made a nice change x
Lovely post and I love his Mr Twit beard, that’s so funny! x #KCACOLS

Thank you, he was certainly happy with it x
Ok I think I need to make myself a beard. Yes I know this sounds weird but that is awesome! Flash forwards your little one 40 years. I am a massive Ikea fan…my other half not so much! I have to make do with browsing their site online 🙂 Though we just bought a house so I think a trip is needed. Well done on being so popular in the views! The children sitting on the step reading is just such a beautiful image it makes my heart smile. Thank you for linking up to #KCACOLS We hope you can link up next Sunday x

Ha ha, the beard is pretty cool. I love Ikea too but only when it’s not busy. My hubby just loves the hotdogs at the end! A new house is a very good reason for a trip x
What a fun time #kcacols
Thank you x
Love the beard! Looks fab. I get so stressed out in ikea, I don’t know what it is but I have to browse online rather than going into the store itself! #kcacols

Ha ha, I can understand that. I can’t go at weekends when it’s busy, I hate any kind of shopping when it’s busy, I get full on shopping rage!
That is an amazing beard! I am so impressed!! I need to go to IKEA, not been in ages!! Thank you for sharing in #HappyDaysLinky xx

Thank you. The beard itself was fairly easy, I just had problems adjusting it so it wouldn’t keep falling down. And sewing on the scraps of food almost made me go blind! x
The beard is amazing, good work!!! Half term get away has made me very happy this week – easy to think of things when you’ve been on holiday but a good task for the normal days to help you appreciate life! #kcacols
