Last week we were kindly sent the Wobbly Worm game by Spin Master Toys in exchange for an honest review and I was really eager to try it out. L is only just beginning to get the concept of playing games where you take it in turns and I was looking for something that we could all play together. Aimed at children from 3+ Wobbly Worm is a great option.
When it arrived L was immediately taken with the bright worm on the box and couldn’t wait to get it open and try it out. You will need two C batteries but other than that the game can be put together in under a minute. The pole (worms body) is three connecting tubes that you slot into the base and you can choose to use just two if your younger ones are smaller which is what we did. The worm’s head then slots in the top and you’re good to go.
Each player gets three rings, each one a different size and then takes it in turn to get their hoop over the worm. Whoever gets the most of their rings over the worm is the winner (they come in three different colours so you can tell them apart).
To even the playing field slightly when there are different aged/sized children playing, the younger ones place their hand on the worm’s head then take one large step back, they then have to get the hoop on from that position without moving their feet. For older kids and adults, you take three steps back and have to throw from there.
To begin with L just kept grabbing the worm’s head and putting the ring on and finding it hilarious, but after watching M and me throwing ours she started to do the same and really got into it. I have to admit, we were all pretty rubbish but we had a great laugh.
Each game only takes a few minutes, so perfect for those with short attention spans, and can be packed away back in it’s box in less than a minute too.
The only down side was that the worm’s head kept falling off, but L just found it funny so it didn’t ruin the game for us. All in all we really enjoyed Wobbly Worm and think it’s perfect for those sunny days in the garden that we’re all hoping will arrive some time soon.
