At the start of each month I like to set myself a list of goals for the coming weeks, a monthly bucket list if you will. It really helps to keep me on track and by publishing it on the blog there is an element of accountability that gives me the proverbial kick up the butt needed. I got the idea from the lovely Beth at twinderlemo.co.uk who hosts a linky for this purpose each month and I have found it invaluable. I like to keep a mix of blog/family/life/home goals to keep life balanced. Each month I will quickly recap how I got on with the previous months goals before listing the goals for the month ahead.
February Goals Round-Up
Family
- Make more of an effort at weekends to actually get out and about. Done. Weather permitting we have been having trips to the park as well as getting out with the dogs
- Have some nice days out during half term. Done. You can read more about what we got up to during half term in my Happy Days: Half-Term Fun post. I’ve also posted about our great day out at Richmond Castle.
- Have a baking session with the kids. This was meant to happen at the end of the half-term holiday but I hurt my neck and back so baking was the last thing on the agenda. We’ll hopefully be doing it next weekend though.
Home
- Get back into my cleaning rota as things have slipped a bit lately. Not quite, oops.
- Get the car serviced. Done
Blog
- Start scheduling tweets with Buffer. Done, although I’m still a bit haphazard with it.
- Continue working on Pinterest and join a few group boards. Done, but still have a long way to go.
- Register as self-employed now that I have a had a few media enquiries. Done!
- Take Aby’s Blog Growth Accelerator Course. Done, although there are still two weeks left to go. Absolutely loving this course.
Me
- Read another book. Done. In fact I read two!
- Exercise (I know, I know, you can stop laughing now). Let’s just not mention it.
- Continue to up my water intake. Done, sort of. I’ve improved on last month and was doing really well but have slipped a bit this last week or so. I’m struggling to tilt my head back to drink since I hurt my neck so the infruition bottle I usually use to keep on top of my intake has been impossible to use.
- Crochet 6 squares a day again (168 for the month). Big fail this month. I only managed 44! At least it’s moving forward 😬.
March Goals
Family
- Baking session with the kids.
- Hubby is due home this month so looking forward to spending time together as a family.
- Book a short romantic getaway. We’re thinking of somewhere along the coast maybe, and going cheap and cheerful this time after our indulgence at Crab Manor Hotel. If anyone has any suggestions for places in the north, let me know x
Home
- Get stuck in with my cleaning rota.
- Weed and tidy up the front garden.
Blog
- Finish the Blog Growth Accelerator Course
- Use all the amazing tips from the course to update a few elements on the blog.
- I’m not happy with my blog graphics so I’ve been playing round with a few ideas. I want to get this nailed in March so that I have more consistency.
- Catch up on all the guest posts and blogging tags I’ve committed to.
- I have an idea for a new collaborative series that I want to explore a bit more.
Me
- Read another book.
- Up my water intake again.
- Is it worth even adding exercise? I’m just humiliating myself now. I’ll give it another go though.
- Continue with my daily meditations. A few weeks ago I reviewed the Mindfulness Mediation App by Welzen and I notice a real difference on the days when I forget to do it. My son is really enjoying doing it on a night before he goes to bed too.
- I’m going to be more realistic with the crochet goals and aim for three a day instead, so that’s 93 for the month.
How about you? How did you get on in February? Did you achieve all you set out to? What are your plans for March?

Some great goals here! I’ve just started exercising every day after putting it off for the last 2 months and I have to say I’m loving it! #bestandworst

Ha ha, its only because I prioritise them over cleaning and exercise 😬
I am not going great with my water intake, but I have been going to the gym a lot. I keep trying to work on Pinterest but I am struggling lol.

Well done on the gym. I’m getting used to Pinterest slowly but definitely not utilising it to its full potential yet x
You def need some stuff for you so I’d so yes to exercise, reading and meditating! The blog course sounds brilliant – hope you can achieve lots with it. I hope to get out more – the weather has been awful!! Thanks for linking with #bestandworst x

I really need to do this – I’m so much more productive when I have a ‘to do’ list! Hope your neck is feeling better now. Glad to hear Aby’s course is going well, I was very tempted to do it! #CoolMumClub

Thank you, it’s getting there. Aby’s course is great. I’d definitely recommend it if she does it again x
This is a nice idea. I’m impressed how much you get done in a month!! #ablogginggoodtime
Thank you x
I soooooo need to get into the garden this month. I love the idea of a monthly bucket list. I like how you have the whole month to complete your goals, easier than keeping up to a yearly resolution for sure. #coolmumclub

Thank you. I’m useless at whole year resolutions, working month by month is definitely more effective for me x
Great list – and you done fab in February, it was such a fast month I feel like I achieved nothing! #coolmumclub

We really need to start getting out and about more at the weekends. With us just moving house there has been so much to do, but we are nearly there. Hopefully in time for some nicer weather. Good luck with finishing Aby’s course, I’ve heard great things about it x #bucketlist

Ha ha! I know, doesn’t seem like I took one does it? Believe or not though I did and now I’m playing some serious catch up trying to reply to about two weeks worth of blog comments 😬
Love the idea of doing this every month. I’ve just started a bullet journal with similar pages for monthly goals, but a blogging about them might help with the impetus to get them done. Thanks. #thelistlinky
It’s the fact I have to update everyone that actually pushes me to get them done! I do love a bullet journal though x
I have just put our Spring Bucket List together, so I was really excited to give yours a read. I love how you have broken things down into sub categories and it sort of becomes a to-do-list as well. I have a course that I want to get on with too, but there just never seems to be any time! #TheLinkyList xx

OOOh I am certainly gong to check out that app, thanks for the heads up. Well done on Pinterest – I find it so hard to keep at it. Excellent news on the self employed well done. Urgh cleaning schedule – I don’t have one of those, do I need one? Gosh I’d probably never stick to it anyway! Good luck with March! Thanks for joining us at #familyfun xx
tammymum recently posted…Why Do I Find It So Hard?
Ha ha, I’m terrible at keeping on top of the cleaning. The one and only time I actually kept on top of it was when I made myself a list of jobs to do each day. I had it down to an art and could get it done in 30 minutes a day. I think it would take me 30 hours to sort the place out now (or just wait for the hubby to come home and he’ll do it all in an hour 😬)
Such a great idea! I often make seasonal bucket lists but I like the idea of breaking it down by month.

I know that feeling. I find e-books easier as you can did into them on your phone when you have a spare 5 minutes (hiding in the bathroom, ‘putting clothes away’ 😉). I do prefer a physical book though x
I really need to do a monthly plan. I love the way yours is (on the most part) realistic. And you’ve split it into sections making it manageable! Note to self…monthly goals. Thanks for sharing and linking up with us at #FabFridayPost

Thank you, it works well for me. Love your blog name, sounds like my life x
I love these posts Alana, I was going to do one for March but it’s already past! I have at least written some goals down (for my blog). Need to use my passion planner more this month as let it slip a bit. I’m also doing abys course which is great. I’d be interested in chatting about potential collaboration so will pop you an email xx #FamilyFun

Ah I need to get my garden sorted too – it has been totally neglected over the winter so I need to tackle it before the lovely weather makes an appearance. I’m glad you’re enjoying your course with Aby – I did one with her recently and it was really useful. And I’m intrigued to find out about your collaboration idea! Lots of exciting things on the horizon!
Most importantly, have a lovely time with your hubby when he’s home 🙂
